Sandra Forbes

“I strive to reflect the beauty of creation, capturing its ever changing essence, sometimes soft and gentle other times, vibrant and dynamic. I strive to do this through expressive colour, texture and movement. I seek to bring to life the flow and energy found in nature. Each piece is an invitation to pause, appreciate, and connect with the world’s natural beauty.”
Sandra Forbes, Canadian Artist
Sandra’s art is a reflection of the light, shadows, and layers of life. The result is a depiction of the energy and the flow that permeates the subject and surrounding environment. Acrylic on canvas allows the display of vibrant colours and bold proclamations of what nature has to offer. Watercolour offers the flexibility of transparency, and the ability to manage flow with a very light touch. This commitment to understanding the flow and layers in life is ever present in Sandra’s pieces.
Sandra is a clinical therapist and coach by profession and works to help people change the flow in their own lives. Sandra is a self-taught artist who has been painting since January of 2017. She has surprised herself with the paintings she has created and the passion that creation stirs. Encouraged by friends, family and others who see her work, she has created a website which hosts some of her pieces at sandraforbescanadianartist.com. In her journey to understand this previously hidden joy of creation, she has discovered that her maternal grandmother and great grandmother were both creative in their own right. She never met either of these talented women but appreciates the gift she has been given. Her mother is an artist and photographer who continues to inspire and advise. Prior to painting she has enjoyed the art of coloured pencil and in many years gone by enjoyed a bit of tole painting.
