Rod Hext

Rod has always had a desire to create. In his youth, he sketched and took art classes throughout high school. Unfortunately, a busy career in the computer field restricted him to the occasional carved pumpkin or driveway mural for his daughters.

Now, with recent freedom, he has branched out in several directions with his creativity. He has designed and built furniture, carved ornaments and decorations, and created illustrations for a comic collector. He recently completed a two-year Heritage Carpentry program in Perth, Ontario which sparked an interest in architecture. It is that recent interest that started him on watercolour paintings of buildings in the area. He finds that by painting, you reveal hidden details and history of the buildings themselves.

Currently, he is self-taught, but with support from his family, he’s pushing more into learning as much as he can about art styles and techniques.
