Hugh Dysart

I am a sculptor and multi-media artist in my current practice. Over the years I have done a lot of wood working making household items and then moved onto carving and mostly bird carving with chisels and wood burning for a number of years. To improve my bird painting I took some acrylic art courses and became enamoured with abstract art painting which I still do today.
My love of wood and sculpting has drawn me back to my roots but with more abstract and mixed media aspects where I use glass, copper, metal paint, burning and plexiglass elements in my sculptures. I am inspired by the wood I work with and follow it where it takes me. I am also inspired by many great modern sculptures in wood, metal, stone and concrete all of which I have experimented with.
I enjoy the challenge of adding movement with these inert materials in my sculpture. I enjoy it and I hope those that view my art enjoy it as well.
