Gordon Simpson

Always drawn towards fine art Gordon fortunately was able to combine a career as a research scientist and formulator in Architectural Coatings with his love for painting and art history.

He obtained degrees from Sir George Williams and Concordia Universities in Chemistry and Fine Arts in Montreal. A long time member of the Chemical Institute of Canada ( CIC ) and the Montreal Society for Coating Technology ( MSCT ) he retired from Sico Inc. as Scientific Director in 2006 after 45 years in the paint industry.

He returned to painting with his partner, Nicole Caron Dube (also a painter), however following her passing in 2021 Gordon returned to his ancestral hometown  of Almonte Ont. in 2022 and once again turned to painting as a primary focus. His interests  include Canadian landscapes, local historical settings and the origins of coatings materials throughout the ages.
