Catherine Rodic

My art has been a challenge in progress over the last 14yrs. I have enjoyed learning from different mentors such as Gordon Perrier, Bonnie Steinberg, and Bill Biddle from the Dundas Valley School of Art. I have also studied at the Oakville Art Center under Donna

Fratisi and Heidi Rhode. My mother, an artist for most of her life was also a wonderful mentor and encouraged my creativity.

Inspiration has come to me in many forms and places, and I have also been fortunate to take part in several workshops with renowned international artists that have each inspired me in their own way. These include Bryan Atyeo, Doug Mays, Judy-Mayer Grieve, Ann More and Atanur Dogan.

My process begins with my imagination orchestrating design with each colour and shape. It is important to me to paint boldly, and with deep feeling for the subject matter. The colour choice must sing and dance for me. I try to evoke excitement for the viewer. I enjoy challenging myself and taking risks with each piece. This usually leads me to my next idea. I especially enjoy the spontaneity of the wet-on-wet technique. I enjoy working with watercolour, ink and acrylics.
